Each soul is potentially divine. We are all children of the Divine and divinity is our birthright. But we have forgotten ourselves and our birthright and so suffer. We have to awake to our dues and assiduously strive to reclaim it. That is Yoga. The word comes from the root 'Yuj' to unite. The Jivatman has to unite with the Paramatman, the finite has to find its fulfillment by merging in the infinite. The part must become the whole. The term Yoga therefore connotes both the goal, the union, and the way, the Sadhana needed to achieve that union.
