Although there are many people who are not drawn to a life of holiness, it would seem that nearly all people search for peace—whether they are believers, agnostics, or even atheists. Only they do not know where to find it, or how to find it. But we cannot blame them for that. It is said that "God created the senses outgoing." Our senses are always involved in the external.
And so when we seek religion, or God, we think we can find him with our senses; therefore we seek peace outside ourselves. We want to find peace and happiness in the world, but war, chaos, and conflict are always present.
We must therefore learn to find peace and harmony in our own individual lives.
